Seattle LEC
Election Update
April 23,
2008
Dear
Seattle
Members,
Our
Seattle election
process for the term July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2010 began in early
January of this year, and was completed on the April
3rd count date.
The Officers elect:
William (Bill)
Oliveros LEC-President
Tim Goins LEC
Vice-President
Steve Poynter LEC
Secretary
Kriste McKeown
Council Rep
Kevin O’Brien
Council Rep
In the last few days I have received
communication from both Bill and Kevin indicating they must, for
personal reasons, now decline to serve in the above
capacities. Bill
provided me with the following for
publication:
Dear Fellow Union
Members,
A heartfelt thanks to those of you who
took the time out of your busy schedules to vote and support me
during this last election cycle. Regrettably, I must announce that I cannot
remain as Local LEC President for reasons related to family
circumstances. This
is nothing more than a timing issue that was unforeseen and
cannot be changed at this time. It is my intent to humbly seek
this office again under different circumstances, with full
ability and heart.
I will do all that I can to assist the newly elected LEC
President in the best possible way. Thank you once again for your vote of
confidence.
Sincerely,
William
Oliveros

I have asked Kevin if he would like us
distribute a communication, and if he so chooses I will
certainly do so.
However I felt the instant information needed to get
distributed as soon as practicable. As required by the AFA Constitution and
By-Laws (C & B) we will have to hold another full election
process for the LECP position in
Seattle. Per the C
& B, in the event a council rep declines to serve before the
term begins, the newly elected LECP, may choose to appoint the
candidate receiving next highest number of votes in the original
election into the vacancy.
Consequently, Kevin’s position will not be on the
upcoming ballot.
The nomination ballots schedule is as
follows:
Mail Date:
April 28, 2008
Postmark Date for return:
May 19, 2008
Count Date:
May 28,
2008
The dates for the election itself, which will be
held electronically, will be posted upon the completion of the
nomination process.
There will be more information regarding the nomination
and election processes coming out shortly, as well as available
on the alaskamec.org website, Seattle page.
Thank you for your patience and
understanding; fly safe.
