Greetings,

RECIPROCAL CABIN SEAT AGREEMENT

Many of you may have been following the bi-weekly minutes regarding the issue of "Reciprocal Cabin Seat Agreement" - Here's the latest! AFA-CWA and Alaska worked out a cabin seat agreement with Southwest Airlines. It has been a high priority for AFA since last fall and is a triumph for all Alaska Flight Attendants.

The challenges of non-revenue/commuting have hit a high as the travel public continues to fill up our planes.  Many flight attendants finding that it’s better to purchase super saver tickets through an airline than use PET, ID-90 or ZED. Due to increased fuel charges and taxes, the cost of getting to work has risen.

The company posted an informational bulletin (#2008-0156) today that describes the guidelines for our cabin seat agreement with Southwest Airlines.  To read the guidelines log on to either your Inflight Web page or our AFA-CWA home page.

We work hard in this industry to make sure everyone else makes it to their destination. Now it’s time for us to be able to enjoy some travel benefits.

In solidarity,

Your AFA leadership
