Greetings,
Important Information Regarding
the Early-Out Program, Enhanced Extended Leaves of Absence
(ELOA) and the Extended Leaves of Absence
(ELOA).
Dear Flight
Attendants,
The following are some
clarifications and improvements for the EOP and E/ELOA programs
being offered. A reminder that bids for these programs
must be received by Inflight Administration no later that the
5th of September. The bid form and more information and is
available in First Class, the World of Inflight, Early Out and
Extended Leave Program conference.
The years of service
that will be used to calculate the amount of severance you will
receive (if you have the 10 full years of Alaska Air Group
service required) and for the years of passes for those not
eligible for retiree pass benefits will be calculated by
rounding up. The original documents distributed indicated
otherwise, please disregard, the most current information is
available in the conference referenced above. The rounding
will be to the next full year (12 years and 5 months service
will be rounded to 13 years) for the severance amount and up to
the next even year (12 years and 5 months will be rounded to 14
years) for the 1 year of passes for 2 years of service
calculation.
Please remember
everyone is eligible for the Early-Out Program, the eligibility
addresses the severance lump sum only, and in the eligibility
tabulation there will be no rounding up of partial years of
Alaska Air Group Service. The years of service that will
be used for the severance and pass calculation will be company,
that is to say, Alaska Airlines Inc. This is most easily
calculated using the date of hire on your ID badge. Take
the amount of time between that date and October 31, 2008 and round as I outlined previously to arrive at the
amounts for your severance and/or pass travel
benefit.
Lastly, after
consideration, we have reached an agreement regarding the ELOA
and its associated contractual longevity freeze. Those
Flight Attendants awarded the E/ELOA will continue to accrue
longevity for step increases during those leaves. On a
side note, those Flight Attendants currently on the ELOAs
awarded in 2006 will receive the same
improvement.
I realize that this
has been something of a moving target and do apologize for that.
Each of these changes represent improvements in what these
programs have to offer and reflect the fervent hopes
of both AFA and management to address as much of our staffing
reduction needs as possible with voluntary separations and
leaves.
There will be management and AFA representatives in
the bases this week, and of course your AFA officers are
available by phone and email to answer questions throughout the
week as well. Please go to the <alaskamec.org>
website for base sit times (should be posted by Monday
afternoon) and contact information for your LEC
officers.
Fly safe and thanks for your
patience.
