Barack Obama Wins!

A monumental and historical win in so many ways, a Barack Obama Presidency ushers in new hope. For Flight Attendants it brings a man who has promoted and protected our interests. When it comes to unions, Obama has stated, ""The labor movement has played a critical role in the fight for justice in our society." He stands behind us. Already he has proven that he is willing to take the lead. Recently, during the AFA’s campaign to unionize Delta Flight Attendants, Delta management muddied the process with loose promises and intimidation. Obama reached out and encouraged workers to be undaunted. "Exercising your right to organize freely is something I have fought for and I urge you to participate in the election," he wrote in a letter addressed to Delta Flight Attendants.

Prior to this election MEC Government Affairs Chair Bev Bullock wrote "We want a safe and healthy working environment. We want and need affordable health coverage. We want assurance that our retirement funds and social security will be available." These are not just our concerns but the basic concerns of most Americans. Bev summarized it best, writing, "It is clear who has addressed those concerns, who is on our side and who is watching our back: Barack Obama."
