Greetings,

We’ve received a number of inquiries regarding the upcoming reimbursement of prescription charges that were applied to the deductible for the years 2008 and 2009.  Since there are several consistent questions we thought it advisable to send out a clarification.

1.  Do I have to fill out something or send in claims of some sort to be reimbursed?

No.  We’ve been assured that once the deadline for submitting claims for 2008 has passed, which will be March 31 2009, Premera will do all necessary calculations.  For 2009, the calculations will be done after March 31, 2010.  This is because claims for the prior year may be submitted for processing through the end of March of each following year.

2. When will I get a refund?

We don’t yet have an answer.  Once we do, we’ll let you know.  There will be time involved with determining who is due a refund, and with computing the refund amounts and distributing the funds.

3. How do I know if I’m eligible for a refund?

A.  If you had no medical charges applied to the deductible, but did have prescription costs applied; all prescription charges (less the 20% that you’d normally have paid) will be refunded.

B. If you had some medical charges and some prescription charges applied, but would not have met your deductible without the applied prescriptions; you will receive a pro-rated refund.

C. If you had medical charges later in the year that would’ve normally have been applied to the deductible; you will not receive a refund, because the medical bills that were NOT applied to the deductible would have caused you to meet the deductible.  If this is your situation, the medical bills that were submitted later in the year were NOT applied to the deductible.

4. How do I check to see if I’m going to receive a refund, or verify that the amount is correct?

A. Copies of all medical claims for 2008 may be accessed by going to the Premera.com website.

B. Detailed copies of all prescription claims may be found at the Medco.com website.

C. If you would like to double check to see if you are eligible for a refund or verify that your refund amount (if any) is correct; we would suggest that you go to each

website, register, and print copies of your claims.

5. What if I still have questions that haven’t been answered?
