Subject: Support of S.6988/A.10004
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to urge you to vote for S.6988-Volker/A.10004-Abbate to provide an optional 25-year retirement plan for Police Investigators employed by the New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
OAG investigators are police officers who conduct investigations jointly with the NYPD, FBI, and county District Attorneys' offices, along with other federal, state and local law enforcement organizations, all of whose police members have either 20-year or 25-year retirement plans. These investigations involve drug cartels, money laundering, gangs, organized crime and other activities that are as dangerous as any police work performed by the aforementioned law enforcement agencies. This legislation will provide the OAG investigators with a pension benefit that is comparable to the pension benefits enjoyed by the other law enforcement personnel with whom they work on these joint investigations. Also, since the Attorney General, in essence, serves as the chief district attorney for the entire state, the OAG investigators covered by this bill would now be receiving a retirement benefit comparable to that of police investigators working for the county DA's.
I am asking you to show your support for these law enforcement professionals by voting affirmatively for this bill.
Sincerely,
|
