Subject: Reject Executive Budget Proposals targeting State employees and retirees

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Governor Paterson's Executive Budget targets my salary and benefits as a NYS Managerial/Confidential (M/C) employee. The Governor proposes elimination of my pay raise, a new 5-day lag pay scheme, establishing a new sliding scale for retiree health insurance premium payments, requiring state employees and retirees to contribute to Medicare Part B premiums, and creating a new Tier V pension benefit. On top of this, the Governor proposes that over 3,000 positions be abolished, causing around 500 layoffs.

Enough is enough! We are taxpayers, too! The Governor's proposed spending cuts and tax and fee increases affect us, too. So, as public employees, we get hit twice--both in the office and at home! On average, the Governor's proposals will cost each state employee over $3,000.

While the loss of the M/C vacation exchange program will be settled by the courts, it is not too late to stop all of these proposed cuts.

Please stand up for me and for all NYS employees and reject parts Z, AA, BB, CC and EE of S56/A156 (Article 7 Budget bills), which would implement the Governor's plan to slash our salaries and benefits.

Sincerely,
