Subject: M/C Pay Cuts
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am an M/C employee whom you have singled out for across-the-board pay cuts. I am astounded that these actions are being taken (which I understand will effect a savings of only $20 million or so) in light of your and the Legislative leadership's recent agreement to increase the Executive Budget by $10 billion over last year. And this on top of your suspension in November of the M/C vacation exchange program!
The employees on whom these actions will fall the hardest are career M/C employees like myself. We work alongside of and, in many cases, supervise bargaining unit employees who already earn more than we do in comparable grades. Your action in singling out career M/C employees for pay cuts is a disincentive to morale and performance for those of us who cannot retire or leave.
While the loss of the M/C vacation exchange program will be settled by the courts, it is not too late for you to adopt alternative savings measures to these cuts. I urge you to stand up for your M/C employees and direct your administration to discuss with my representative employee organization, OMCE, their suggestions for alternative ways to achieve the savings you seek without targeting M/C employees (again) with the withholding of our pay.
Sincerely,
|
