Ron Perelman, It's More Than Just A Dream

Mr. Ronald O. Perelman is one of the 100 wealthiest men in the entire world.  Mr. Perelman's private investment arm, MacAndrews and Forbes, owns AlliedBarton.  Philadelphia is the company's crown jewel.  AlliedBarton made $94 million from Philadelphia in 2004 alone.  Despite this, most of the thousands of AlliedBarton workers earn poverty wages, lack access to affordable health care and cannot even take a day off when ill without losing a days wage...

Subject: AlliedBarton Guards In Philadelphia

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Mr. Ronald O. Perelman- Philadelphia is a poor city. When a major employer, perhaps one of the largest employers in the city, like AlliedBarton pays workers low wages; does not offer quality, affordable health care; does not give employees sustainable retirement options; harasses workers who are trying to win a voice on the job, our entire city suffers. Please take steps to force AlliedBarton to reform in a worker friendly way by addressing these issues.

Background Information

Security guards throughout the city face the problem of low wages and insufficient benefits. AlliedBarton is the largest security company in our city and employs 87% of the guards in Philadelphia. 97% of the private security guards in Philadelphia are African American. Like the black workers in Memphis in 1968, security guards face systemic oppression. Like the black workers in Memphis in 1968, we want to unite and stand up for our families.

With your help we can reform this industry, this company and the clients that avoid treating workers right by hiding behind their sub-contractors.  When we do, tens of millions of dollars will flow into some of our cities most underserved and impoverished neighborhoods.
