Stop the Flawed Immigration Bill
Our nation’s immigration policy is broken. The number of undocumented and illegal immigrants in the United States is estimated to exceed 11.5 million, and that number is growing rapidly every day.
The U.S. Congress is attempting to address this issue by considering a deeply flawed immigration bill that will only make the exploitation of undocumented workers even worst. Additionally, this legislation threatens to severely undermine the wages and working conditions of millions of hard working Americans.
This bill poses an extreme danger to the future of every hard working middle class American family. We urge you to contact your Senators immediately to voice your concerns about it.

Subject: Vote No on the Flawed Immigration Bill
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to you as a constituent and as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association to express my profound opposition to S. 1348, the Immigration Reform Act.
While our nation's immigration policy is broken, this legislation does little to reform illegal immigration but instead make its effect even worse by enabling and legalizing the exploitation of immigrant workers.
Instead of protecting the standard of living for hard working middle class Americans, this bill creates a serf-like system form immigrant workers that will undermine the wages and working conditions of millions of native Americans.
Further, it does nothing to punish the unscrupulous employers who routinely break our nation's immigration laws in a constant search for a steady supply of cheap labor.
Generations of Americans have historically depended on good, high paying jobs in industries such as construction and manufacturing to provide an avenue to the middle class. This legislation will now block those pathways for millions of native and non-native workers.
Please vote to keep American work from being in-sourced to pay lower wages just as American jobs have been outsourced to other countries. The interests of American workers represent a much larger constituency than the corporations and other interest groups that seek your support. Your vote will influence our votes.
I look forward to seeing how you vote on reforming a broken immigration system.
Sincerely,
