Now Is the Time To Take A Stand

The American middle class is in trouble.  Wages stay flat while prices rise and our taxpayer dollars are bailing out Wall Street CEOs.

We need an economy that works for everyone, not just Wall Street.

The Employee Free Choice Act will do that make making sure workers, and not their bosses, decide whether or not and how to form a Union.

While this is an important first step in taking back the American Dream by leveling the playing field for America's working men and women, corporations will not let this bill pass without a major fight.

The same big business groups that lobbied against the minimum wage, against child labor laws, against improved worker safety and for taxpayer bailout money are attacking this bill across the country with "letters to the editor" bringing up the false argument that this bill will end the right to a so-called "secret ballot."

The people writing these letters about the "secret ballot" are the same people who lobbied several years ago for their right to monitor their workers' emails along with the right to monitor what workers said about joining unions - while they were off work.

The time to spread the truth about the Employee Free Choice Act is now, and you can help.

Please take a moment to send a letter to your local newspapers telling them about the importance of this bill.  Some sample talking points are provided that you can copy and paste into your letter, or you can write your own material.

In addition, let us know when you see misleading op-eds and anti-union letters in your local newspaper so that we can be sure to respond.

Background Information

Big Business and its highly paid lobbyists have made blocking the Employee Free Choice Act their top priority, and they’re putting all of their efforts into a vicious and dishonest campaign, using shady front groups to spread falsehoods to the public, the press and politicians.

Lee Scott, former CEO of Wal-Mart, says in opposition to the proposed Employee Free Choice Act: “We like driving the car, and we’re not going to give the steering wheel to anybody but us.”

It's time to turn America around and take back our economy.  Send a link to our Letter to the Editor page to your friends and family and help spread the word about this important bill.
