AFA American Eagle MEC E-News

Greetings,

Automation Update

Ratified in October 2005, the current collective bargaining agreement was negotiated for the better part of the new millennium. When implemented, we were all aware that at some point in its duration, automated processing and schedule adjustment would be implemented by the Company. We also knew that concurrent with its implementation, several subsections of the collective bargaining agreement would need modification to make the adjustment from manual to automated processing.

That day has arrived!

Today, your MEC - Contract Interpretation Committee met with their Company counterparts to begin the process of negotiating the necessary amendments. No modifications to the CBA were negotiated, but we have begun identifying what it is that must be changed. (Yes, this is the ?intro? to the ?intro.?) Rest assured, this committee cannot and will not on its own agree to implement any changes. Once finished bargaining, a proposed side-letter will be written and reviewed by the MEC. After that review, the MEC will vote. That vote decides whether or not the proposed side-letter will be implemented.
