Association of Flight Attendants-CWA at American Eagle Airlines

Greetings,

The American Eagle MEC is working with Management to change the requirement for our Flight Attendants to have to manually turn on the Y indicator every month that enables you to fly more than 100 hours in a month.

We have had reports that some of our Flight Attendants have forgotten to turn on the Y indicator, and then they have been denied assistance from In-Flight Managers to use their Management code to override the system after the bids have closed to turn on the Y indicator.

During our testing of the TTOT system before going live I expressed concern that if our Flight Attendants did forget to turn on the Y indicator I did not want their income to be affected. Linda Kunz Vice President of in-flight assured me that all Managers would be available to help in the event a Flight Attendant forgot to turn on the 100 hour indicator.

Last week, I placed a call to Linda to inform her that this agreement was not being followed by In-Flight managers consistently. Linda has since sent a reminder to all base Mangers that if you forget to turn on your 100 hour indicator they are to help you. If any of you have a problem in the future, please report this to your LEC President as soon as possible.

Currently, we are working on a long term fix whereby the indicator will always be set to Y instead of N. This way you will not have to manually enter this every month. Please be advised that even though your indicator will always be set to Y - this does not automatically wave your contractual rights for Crew Scheduling to add flying over 100 hours.  A flight Attendant is the only one that can waive their rights to go over 100 hours even though your indicator will always be set to Y unless you manually change it to N in the future.

In Closing the programming department is still working on this change and we will advise you when the programming is complete. In the interim, please continue to make this entry manually should you wish to fly over 100 hours during any given month. Should you forget to turn on the Y indicator, again, your base Managers are there to assist you with this.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Local President.

In Solidarity,

Veronica Tenerelli
