Greetings,

Negotiations Update #3

Dear AFA Member,

We have been able to set dates with the Company to exchange Section 6 opening proposals. Your Negotiations Team will meet in DFW with the Company on November 3, 2009.

Prior to this date, the MEC will meet to review and approve the opener in DFW, on October 23, 2009.

The time has come for us to begin the mobilization process.  A Union’s power is nothing more than the total energy and support of its members who can be mobilized. Our power is in numbers so we need to increase the number of members who are aware of and support the improvements we are fighting

for at the table. Once we have this, we can fight, knowing we have the support of our rank and file members.

We need Flight Attendants who will volunteer to become Local Mobilizers in each of our six domiciles. Some bases have already successfully appointed Local Mobilizing Chairs, yet some still need your help. Please reference the following list:

We’d like to thank those who have come forward to help win our new contract. As you can see, we still need help. You may be asking, “What do Mobilizers do”?

Mobilizers assist the Negotiations Team while already at work and by doing things you already do today. Each of us has friends or a group we speak to at work on a regular basis.

  • We need you to talk to these same people and spread facts, not rumors (they will only divide us).
  • We need you to talk to people to promote two-way communication between our members and the Negotiations Team.
  • Talking to people builds our unity and the power we need to negotiate a fair agreement.

If you think this is something you can do, contact one of the Local Council Mobilizing Chairs listed above. You will leverage our Negotiations and give us a strategic advantage.

Stay Aware, Stay Educated and Stay Informed. Wear Your Union Pin!

In Unity,

Your Negotiations Team

Debora Sutor – Chair

Armando Ramos

John Grace

Robert Barrow – MEC President

Paula Mastrangelo – AFA Staff Negotiator
