On June 16, 2009, thanks to the leadership of Representatives Ike Skelton (D-MO), Jim Langevin (D-RI), and Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), and members of the House Armed Services Committee, the reality of reforming the unfair and costly A-76 (contracting out) process and getting rid of NSPS is one step closer to happening. While these are huge victories for AFGE members, these amendments must be approved by the entire House of Representatives and then the United States Senate. These lawmakers who supported these reforms deserved to be thanked for their tireless work on behalf of government employees.

Subject: Thank You for Supporting NSPS and A-76 Reforms

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Thank you for supporting the amendments offered by Representatives Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) and Jim Langevin (D-RI) to National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 (H.R. 2647).

As a member of the American Federation of Government Employees, I applaud your efforts to reform the flawed privatization process that leads to waste, fraud, and abuse. Second, thank you for your efforts to ensure that Department of Defense employees are not subject to NSPS, an arbitrary and unjust personnel system

As the House of Representatives takes up other legislation that contains similar reforms, I urge you to continue to support federal employees by voting against any amendments to prevent reforms to the privatization process or NSPS.

Again, thank you for your vote on behalf of federal employees.

Sincerely,
