AFSCME Local 3299 Action Center
Tell Your Chancellor to Settle Our Contract For Our Students and Our Families!

UC is still refusing to agree to our demands: longevity steps at market rate, statewide minimum wages, benefits guarantees, protections for full-time represented work, call pay and overtime pay improvements and other things that will raise us up to the market standards.

Because UC is dragging its feet, our contract campaign escalated to a new level last week through our powerful actions that took place in Los Angeles and San Francisco!

Thousands of AFSCME members were joined by community leaders, religious supporters and political allies who picketed and rallied, culminating in the arrests of 85 people, who peacefully sat down in the streets to show UC how serious we are about winning a fair contract.

The Chancellors at Los Angeles and San Francisco heard our message loud and clear last Thursday but we need to make sure the message gets through to all ten Chancellors:

Tell them today to settle a fair contract for our students and our families!

Subject: We Standing up for Our Students and Our Families, When Will You?

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As you know, last Thursday over one thousand UC workers from campuses and medical centers state-wide, together with community and religious supporters, stood up for quality student services and a fair contract at UC. Our action culminated in the arrests of 85 people, including many student service workers, who peacefully sat down in the streets.

It is important that you understand that our decision to commit non-violent acts of civil disobedience was not one that we came to lightly.

We took this step because we believe that UC's below-market wages and lack of a seniority-based step system cause recruitment and retention problems that can compromise quality student services. We have told you this in bargaining. We have told you this through delegations. We have told you this in countless rallies and picket lines. We told you this last week.

We know that it is within YOUR power to address our concerns by settling a fair contract that will help our students and our families. We hope that you will stand up with us!

Sincerely,
