Greetings,
Join us at a Rally for Workers'
Rights!
On Wednesday, December 10, International Human Rights Day,
hundreds of AFSCME members will join a crowd of 1,000 people to
rally in support of workers' rights -- because workers' rights
are human rights.
Join us! Wednesday, December 10 5:30 pm Wal-Mart
at 13901 Manchester Rd. near St. Louis
We'll be demanding that our congressmembers support the
Employee Free Choice Act. This legislation would ensure that when
a majority of employees in a workplace decide to form a union,
they can do so without the obstacles many employers use to block
their workers’ free choice. Click
here for more information on the Employee Free Choice Act.
Wal-Mart was targeted for the St. Louis protest because it
has fiercely resisted workers’ efforts to organize as it
has grown to be the nation's largest private sector
employer, with its notoriously low wages and benefits. Our
St. Louis-area action will be one of more than 50 events around
the country to make sure elected officials know workers’
rights needs to be on the agenda in 2004.
We're arranging for busses, vans and carpools to bring
AFSCME members to the December 10 rally. Contact one of the
AFSCME organizers below for further information.
