Subject: FY08 - 09 Biennial Budget

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I'm writing to urge you to support the Ohio Executive FY08 - FY09 Biennial Budget. This budget will set the groundwork for getting Ohio on the right track by adequately funding vital programs and services that Ohioans rely on every day.

With Ohio facing limited revenue, and with this budget providing for the lowest growth in state spending in over 40 years, it still:

Provides $257 million in property tax relief for seniors and the disabled by eliminating the tax on the first $25,000 of home value regardless of income.

Increases state support of our public schools by increasing per pupil funding by 3 percent per year so that struggling school districts will be able to provide much needed services to our children who attend public schools.

Also, under the Executive budget the Local Government Fund and the Local Library Fund will now be funded by using a set percentage of the General Revenue Fund. By going to a set percentage, the state can better assist local governments in providing the vital public services that we as citizens rely upon each and every day.

I sincerely hope the legislature takes a close look at the provisions outlined in the governor's executive budget and support this important effort.

Sincerely,
