Dear AFSCME Retiree,
On September 15th, the Alliance for
Retired Americans, the national organization for all union
retirees will be holding a retiree town hall meeting in
Pittsburgh. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM at the
Westin Convention Center Hotel (1000 Penn Avenue,
Pittsburgh).
A limited supply of tickets are available for this
special event. If you are interested in attending, please
contact Brent Rutkowski of the AFSCME Retirees as soon as
possible at (202) 429-5000.
Some 500 retirees from a number of unions, including AFSCME,
will be attending the town hall meeting. A retiree's stake in
health care reform will be the focus of the event which will
also include a new video produced by AFSCME and ARA countering
the lies about health care reform being spread by insurance
companies, right-wing talk show personalities and some
Republican members of Congress. Various senior and labor leaders
will also be addressing the town hall meeting.
As an added bonus, retirees in attendance at the
town hall meeting will receive a special pass to attend the
AFL-CIO Convention the same day to hear President Obama
address the delegates.
Sincerely,
Steve Regenstreif Director, AFSCME Retirees
