Dear AFSCME Retiree,

Have a Health Care House Party on November 5th!

Opponents of health care reform have thrown everything and the kitchen sink at retirees to discourage your support. Now is the time to set the record straight.

On November 5th, AFSCME retirees nationwide will join with thousands of other union members in labor’s National Day of Action on Health Care Reform. It’s a chance to spread the word that reform bills currently in Congress will make health care more affordable for everyone.

Phony Health Care Horror Stories

We are asking you to reserve Thursday, November 5th for your very own Health Care House Party. On that day, invite family, friends and neighbors to your home to talk about reform and to view AFSCME’s new video, “Phony Health Care Horror Stories.” It features AFSCME President Gerald McEntee debunking the lies about seniors and health care reform while explaining what’s truly in it for you.

Here are just a few of the facts:

  • Reform isn’t a threat to Medicare – it actually strengthens the program and provides new benefits.

  • Reform isn’t “socialized medicine.” Most Americans will continue with the coverage they have today.

  • Reform won’t bankrupt the country. Over time, it will save money!

If you would like to hold a House Party on November 5th, send us a reply e-mail. Please include "house party" in the subject line of your reply. We will send you a house party kit that will provide everything you’ll need, including informative fliers and information on how to access the “Horror Stories” video and two others. Then, all you’ll need to do is invite your guests and put out the doughnuts and coffee!

Sincerely,

Steve Regenstreif
