Governor, Don't Sign the Bill
The budget crisis has been postponed, look for a rerun to happen at the end of October. The Education Budget has been passed and is sitting on the Governor's desk. She has not signed it, and she shouldn't sign it until the legislature finds the money to actually fund it.
The Higher Education budget has passed both houses but the Senate will not send it to the Governor because she has said she will use her line-item veto in an attempt to restore some of the financial aid cuts. The budget continuation runs out on October 31.
We need to encourage the Governor to not sign the School Aid Bill, and to use her veto power, when she gets the Higher Education Bill, to put pressure on the Legislature to fix this mess.

Subject: Finish the School Aid Budget, Raise the Money
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Please do not sign the School Aid Budget Bill until the Legislature has completed their job and fully funded this budget. Without full funding, schools are looking at a much larger mid-year cut.
When the Senate finally sends you the Higher Education Budget please use your veto power to push them to restore some of the draconian financial aid cuts.
Sincerely,
|
