Fund the Budget, Stop the Cuts!
Greetings,
The budget cuts School Aid $165 per student...20(j) money was
cut to districts...The Governor looked at the incoming state
revenue and realized there wasn't enought money so she cut
another $165 per pupil.
None of this has to happen if the Legislature would fully
fund the budget! Call or write your Senator and
Representative and tell them to find the money to stop these
cuts.
Send a letter to the following decision maker(s):
Your Representative (if you live in Michigan)
Your State Senator (if you live in Michigan)
Below is the sample letter:
Subject: Raise the Money Now!
Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],
The School Aid budget passed and we are now facing cuts equivalent to $165 per pupil. The Governor vetoed the 20(j) funds and and ordered an additional $127 per pupil cut because state revenues are just not there to cover the costs. School districts are going to close unless the Legislature finishes the job and actually raises the money to fund the budget.
Finish your work, raise the necessary money to fund the budget.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
