SJR 1150, a bill that would have asked voters to ease class-size limitations went down in defeat in a vote on the floor of the Senate on Friday. Read about the vote in state-wide print media coverage posted in the "Class-SizeCaps Preserved" thread on SeminoleUniServTheLink, our discussion board.

Seminole GetsActive Center members conveyed their opinions overnight before the vote to senators who represent Seminole County voters and Senate President Tom Lee via the "Local Control - A Core Value" advocacy campaign. Two hundred email messages were sent.

Although the opinions conveyed were unanimous in opposition to the legislation, Senators Carey Baker, Lee Constantine, Bill Posey, Daniel Webster, and Tom Lee voted in favor of the legislation. Senator Evelyn Lynn voted against the legislation.

Thanks to those Seminole GetsActive Center members who participated in the advocacy campaign.
