The Alliance is a nationwide union organizing campaign and a membership organization for current employees, former employees and retirees. Our members are involved with a variety of issues from pension changes, off shoring of jobs, workplace concerns, legal issues, and health and safety concerns.

We are the only national IBM employee organization in the United States standing up for employee rights and benefits. We are affiliated with the Communications Workers of America, AFL/CIO. Our goal is to build majority support throughout IBM. With that support we can obtain collective bargaining rights and negotiate legally binding contracts for salaries, benefits and conditions of employment at IBM.

Who can join the Alliance?

Active employees, contractors, temporary employees (such as those in Manpower who work for IBM), and retirees are eligible to join. *Exempt* (salaried) employees are eligible! EIT Employees are eligible too. Sorry, no managers.

What are the categories of membership?

Voting member: Voting members are the most important part of the Alliance. Voting members can run for office, vote on issues, vote for officers, help set policy and set up new chapters. Membership dues are $10 a month. You also receive access to a range of services through CWA union privilege programs. Click here to become a voting member.

Associate member: Associate members are will receive the newsletter Think Twice as well as e-mail alerts. Associate members contribution of $5 a month help sustain and grow the Alliance@IBM financially. Associate members are not eligible for the benefits and rights of full membership. Subscriber: If you are undecided about full membership, signing up as a subscriber brings you our newsletter THINK TWICE and e-mail alerts. You also will be notified of Alliance activities and meetings in your area. Many subscribers are also Alliance volunteers, helping with newsletter distribution and helping us organize.
