As an America West Flight Attendant, you have always met the challenges and provided the professionalism and support for your programs. It's now time to urge Doug Parker, Scott Kirby and Al Hemingway to agree to immediate wage increases to our wage rate established in 2002 that has been offset by economic conditions seriously eroding our ability to meet minimal financial needs.

On behalf of the America West Flight Attendants, who have always met the challenges and provided the professionalism and support for your programs, I am writing to urge you to agree to immediate wage increases to our wage rate established in 2002 that has been offset by economic conditions seriously eroding our ability to meet minimal financial needs.

Our efforts to complete the Merger for a single Flight Attendant contract beginning in 2005 resulted in Section 6 contract negotiations under the Railway Labor Act provisions being placed in abeyance. The abeyance resulted in the inability to receive the wage increases as specified in the ATSB loan agreements designated for the workgroups. The America West flight attendants were instrumental, through support and lobby in Washington, DC, in helping secure the company's approved ATSB Loan in late 2001. Our dramatic partnership, during a difficult time in this airline's history, should be recognized. We are the only group of West employees who have not seen any wage increase in seven years and counting.

Management's position that we must wait until the contracts are merged is unreasonable.

We have been patient, awaiting a combined agreement while our workgroup has not had wage increases since 2002. A prominent inequality is the fact that our wages are between five and forth-five percent lower than our East flight attendant counterparts wearing the same uniform, performing the same task. Please return to the Section 6 bargain table and implement reasonable and immediate wage increases for America West Flight Attendants. I simply cannot afford to wait any longer.
