Spring 2009 Voluntary Leave of Absence Program


US Airways InFlight Services is offering 150 voluntary furloughs effective May 1, 2009 for Flight Attendants based in PHX and LAS. The duration will be for a three-month period - May 1, 2009 to July 31, 2009. This program is called the “Spring 2009 Voluntary Leave of Absence.” Application forms are available here
. The form must be submitted to InFlight Planning. The deadline for InFlight Planning to receive the form has been extended to 1700 (MST), April 15, 2009. Frequently Asked Questions

Scheduled to commence May 1, 2009.

Duration of three (3) months (150 slots) with an end date of July 31, 2009.

Must be in an "active" and "available" status at the beginning of voluntary furlough.

Unlimited on-line travel privileges for employee and eligible family members, including companion passes and registered guests. The boarding priority will be that of active employees (SA3). Travel on other airlines will be at the discretion of those airlines.

Continuation of current group health and welfare benefits through May 31, 2009 only. After this time, flight attendants who are currently enrolled with US Airways benefits will be COBRA eligible.

Continued seniority and longevity accrual.

May retire from a voluntary leave of absence status.

Changes to the VLOA Request Form may be made during the bid period only. The most recent form received will be processed.

Once the award is made, no changes may be made.

Lineholders will be responsible for carry-in trips to May and will be ineligible to bid for May. Reserves will be available to scheduling for trips up to and including April 30th.
