Take Action For National Health Care Reform!

Right now, we’re closer than ever to passing real reform that would ensure quality, affordable health care for everyone. The House health care proposal would finally put an end to insurance company abuses, control skyrocketing health care costs and ensure that all Americans have health care coverage.

But corporate special interests are trying to block health care reform by funding right-wing extremist groups to disrupt legislative town hall meetings across the country, intimidate lawmakers and interfere with the democratic process. The opposition is promising hundreds of hostile, aggressive protesters at town hall meetings across the state, and we need to make sure our voice is heard above the din.

You can stand up for health care reform by-

1.) Attending a town hall meeting in your area, to counter the protesters and make sure California representatives know there’s widespread support for HR 3200. Click the 'What's At Stake' tab at the top of the page or visit our website for a list of town hall events around the state.
2.) Sending a letter to your member of Congress by using the automated system; just complete the form on this page and click 'Send this Message.'
3.) Calling your members of Congress toll-free at (877) 264-4226 and urging them to support HR 3200.
4.) Telling your friends, co-workers and loved ones to do the same!

Tell Your Members of Congress-

Subject: Health Care Reform Can't Wait - Support HR 3200!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to urge you to support HR 3200, America's Health Choices Act, which would secure and expand accessible, affordable and fair health coverage for everyone, including millions of uninsured and underinsured Californians.

As health insurance costs skyrocket at double-digit rates year after year, more and more employers are reducing coverage and dropping benefits altogether. At the same time, insurance companies are regularly denying claims and discontinuing coverage for those who are sick, just when need it the most. Currently, 6.7 million California residents are uninsured, and most of the newly uninsured are from solidly middle-class families.

Health care reform can't wait. That's why Congress needs to act quickly to pass HR 3200, which would finally put an end to insurance company abuses, control health care costs and ensure that all Americans have health care coverage.

HR 3200 would finally make health insurance affordable for everyone by providing a quality public health insurance option, which would cut costs in two ways. Right now, those of us who have insurance are helping to pay for care for the uninsured, but the public option would cover those uninsured so working families like mine don't have to. Additionally, a low-cost, high-quality public option would force private insurers to be more competitive with their prices and the quality of their services. It will also mean that health care will be there for all of us, no matter what.

The healthcare reform bill would also ensure that everyone -- not just workers, but employers and the government -- pay their fair share, instead of the current system which forces workers to bear most of the financial burden. The bill will also level the playing field among employers by requiring them all to provide a minimum standard of health coverage, or pay into a public fund.

Working families deserve to have healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and fair. HR 3200 would provide just that. I urge you to support this important bill.

Sincerely,
