FAIR PAY RESTORATION ACT
America's Working People Deserve Fair Pay- Please support the Fair Pay Restoration Act
This coming Wednesday, the Senate will be voting on a very important bill, the Fair Pay Restoration Act. Passage of this bill is crucial to address the pay disadvantage America's working women are experiencing. To date, women in the United States are paid 77 cents, African American women make 63 cents, and Latinas earn 52 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts.
This is a struggle for economic justice and fair pay for hard working people nationwide. These are our mothers, sisters, friends and colleagues that deserve fair pay for their labor.
Although pay discrimination on the basis of gender is illegal, women continue to make less than men and this wage gap must be fixed. We need to restore basic protections against pay discrimination. Working people deserve strong laws that guarantee equal pay for all regardless of their gender, race, country of origin or religion.
For this reason we ask that you help us gain support for the Fair Pay Restoration Act that will be up for a vote next week and to call on your Senators to do the same.

Talking Points
Pay discrimination is not solely a woman's fight but a fight to change an inequality that is placing millions of working people at a disadvantage. The Ledbetter decision must be altered because rather than deter future pay discrimination cases it creates an environment conducive to the discrimination of workers they are limited in the time that they're allowed to file for discrimination.
Pay discrimination, no matter how small has adverse short-term and long-term consequences not only on the wages of workers will earn throughout their lifetime but also in the benefits that they will receive when they retire, having serious implications for the economic stability of future retirees.
We must restore basic protections against pay discrimination that the Ledbetter decision weakened. Working people deserve strong laws that guarantee equal pay for all regardless of their gender, race, country of origin or religion.
