Oppose President Bush's Private School Voucher Program

Once again, President Bush's budget includes a proposal to provide $300 million for a national private school voucher program and funds to continue the District of Columbia voucher program. The proposal, "Pell Grants for Kids," would provide private school vouchers to students attending struggling schools identified under the No Child Left Behind Act.

As we approach the 2008 elections, it is important to send a strong message to Congress, and all the presidential candidates, that private school vouchers represent unwise policy and will drain resources from already underfunded public schools and do nothing to help improve public education.
