Miguel Estrada has never been a judge, since law school he hasn't written articles about legal issues and since his nomination he has consistently refused to answer important questions from senators about his views and his legal philosophy. Miguel Estrada is a "stealth candidate" who is rumored to be in line for an appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. What we do know about his record is very troubling, such as the narrow view about the role of the courts he expressed during a radio show and statements by his former supervisor that Estrada is too much of an ideologue to be a federal judge. For these reasons, unions, Latino organizations, civil rights groups, environmentalists and others are uniting to oppose his nomination.

The Senate shouldn’t reward stealth candidates like Estrada with lifetime appointments to prestigious judgeships—especially not to the second most important court in America.
