Ohio cannot afford reductions in its employment services programs.

• Severely reducing funds to the Wagner-Peyser Employment Service program would significantly undermine state and local efforts to re-employ workers. This is particularly significant given Ohio’s recently announced 6.3% unemployment rate.
  
• Wagner-Peyser funds job placement assistance, skills assessment, counseling, and labor market information
  
• Wagner-Peyser provides a smooth link between filing for unemployment benefits and obtaining reemployment services.
  
• Wagner-Peyser staff – OCSEA members in Ohio’s One-Stops – provide case management services to trade-impacted workers, referring those Trade Adjustment Assistance-eligible clients to training and ensuring coordination with other parts of the system.
  
• Employment Service is valuable to small employers who do not have the resources to recruit employees on their own and cannot pay service fees to recruiters.
