JOIN US AT THE OAKLAND CITY COUNCIL IN DEMANDING THAT:

Oakland is not for sale -- we want benefits for the community and a developer financed project!

Tuesday, May 3, 2005, 6pm @ Oakland City Hall

The Labor Council is working closely with the Building Trades and local community and environmental organizations as an integral part of the Train Station Coalition that is fighting for accountable development at the 16th and Wood Street project in West Oakland.  This is the largest development project in West Oakland's history, including over 1500 units of housing on 29.2 acres of land.  The Coalition wants guarantees of affordable housing, local hires with prevailing wage jobs, environmental remediation, and preservation of the historic Pullman Porter organizing site under community control.

At the Hearing, Coalition members will be asking the City to conditionally approve the project.  Please join us, wear your union colors, and turn-out friends and neighbors, especially those in West Oakland!
