Support Albany County workers

The Albany County 2010 tentative budget is out and includes layoffs of 23 CSEA-represented positions as well as not filling over 200 vacant positions. There are better choices, but the window to urge legislators to seek cost savings via other avenues, is quickly closing.

Talking Points

  • CSEA members are unwavering in our opposition to Mr. Breslin's proposed budget because Albany County employees provide many important services to residents of Albany County.
  • Layoffs of county workers will harm impacted employees and their families.
  • There are better ways to decrease spending and increase revenue, but they haven't been attempted.
  • Layoffs will not help the county's bottom line as it costs money to pay for unemployment and social services laid off workers will need.
  • Layoffs hurt local businesses and reduce county tax revenues.
