Members from HPAE Local 5185 at Bayonne Medical Center will be holding a press conference at 12:00 noon in Room 109 of the NJ Statehouse in Trenton calling. The union will present the Governor with a petition of 31,000 signatures from the local community calling on the state to take action to keep this important community hospital open. If you cannot attend the press conference, please call Governor Corzine at 609-292-6000 or use the form to the right to send him a letter expressing how important saving this community hospital is to the residents of Bayonne. After years of mismanagement and fiscal irresponsibility by management, Bayonne Medical Center has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is in danger of closing. Throughout New Jersey, and the nation, local community hospitals are closing at a rapid rate. This poses a serious threat to the health and welfare of our communities. Our communities should not suffer because of the negligence of hospital management.
