While the bill failed to pass last legislative session, this is the farthest it had moved through the legislative process since it was first introduced in 1992. Let's keep up the momentum and tell our Legislators, "Stop Stalling, We Need Family Leave Insurance NOW!" On Monday, January 28, the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee will hold hearings on Family Leave Insurance (S786). Please take a moment to send the members of the committee asking them support Family Leave Insurance. This is the first step to passing this critical piece of legislation. This bill would extend benefits provided through the state's Temporary Disability Insurance program to workers caring for sick family members, newborns or newly adopted children. The business lobby has continued their campaign of misinformation and spin in hopes of killing this important legislation. Without strong support from New Jersey's Working Families, this bill will never be passed.
