Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. The short explanation of this alert was: Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are considering recent actions by the Federal Communications Commission that affect the public interest in our public airwaves. Congress will be soon voting on resolutions to overturn FCC action in December to gut the longstanding "newspaper/broadcast cross-ownership" ban that prohibits a local newspaper from owning TV and radio stations in the same market. If this rule change isn’t overturned by Congress, a flood of media consolidation across America could be unleashed—meaning less diverse voices, less local news, and less investigative journalism. In addition, Congress is being pressured by media companies to stop the FCC from implementing proposals to increase broadcasters’ obligations to outline their efforts to service the local communities. Legislators need to make sure that the FCC enacts meaningful public interest obligations for station license renewals in the interest of localism. Your legislators need to hear from you right now! Tell Congress to keep our airwaves in the public interest:
