Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Kansas Workbeat Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: Kansas legislators are refusing to address the plight of injured workers in Kansas. After decades of neglect, the workers compensation system is in shambles. Injured workers in Kansas receive the lowest benefits in our five-state region. And a recent decision by the Kansas Supreme Court that effectivelyeliminated disability benefits to severely injured workers has only made it worse.Still, the Kansas Legislature refuses to address the problem. In fact, the only time Kansas legislators acknowledge the work comp system at all is when the business or insurance lobbyists ask them to CUT worker benefits! Most Kansans —94%— rely on the workers compensation to protect them and their family from financial ruin in case of a workplace accident. It’s long past time the Legislature started mending this important safety net for working Kansans. How You Can Help Send emails to Governor Sebelius and your State Senator and Represenative. The Kansas Coalition for Workplace Safety needs your help in raising awareness about the dismal condition of the work comp system. On February 27 or February 28, call your state representative, state senator and Governor Sebelius and send this short, simple message:“Enough is enough. Get off your duffs and fix workers compensation for working families!” To leave this message with your Kansas state representative and Kansas state senator, call the toll-free Legislative Hotline: 1-800-432-3924 . Hotline operators can determine who your state rep and senator are.
