Write Gov. Manchin and Tell Him: 'No Deal!'

The Verizon-Frontier deal puts the fat cats on Wall Street ahead of hard-working West Virginians. Now is the time for us to say "No Deal!"

We have the power to change the deal. The West Virginia Public Service Commission will begin hearings this week. Gov. Manchin needs to tell commissioners why this deal raises serious concerns for West Virginians.

I've been keeping track of the recent developments with the proposed deal to transfer Verizon's landlines to a small Connecticut company called Frontier Communications.

I have grave concerns about this deal and hope that as governor you will let the Public Service Commission know this would be a bad deal for West Virginia.

It would pad the pockets of Wall Street executives while leaving West Virginians behind.

It's a disaster waiting to happen. Similar Verizon deals have resulted in bankruptcy for the purchasing company, lost jobs, unmet broadband promises and poor service.

I have real concerns whether Frontier will be able to service the entire state during emergencies--for example, when damaging winds knock down lines. And how will Frontier be able to invest in broadband technology when it will be buried in debt from the deal?

I strongly urge you to use the power of your voice and express my (and your) concerns to the Public Service Commission. Ultimately, someone will have to be held responsible if this deal goes through and communities across West Virginia suffer.
