Say NO to corporate control of our Internet!

Stop the Throttlers!

The Canadian Association of Internet Providers has asked the Canadian Radio-television Communications Commission (CRTC) to order Bell Canada to cease and desist its traffic-shaping practices that have been throttling consumers’ equal access to the Web. Please join us in supporting CAIP’s submission by telling the CRTC that it has an obligation to ensure net neutrality.
Do we really want Bell and Rogers to be able to tell us what we can and cannot view and do on the Internet?

Talking Points

Communications giants Bell and Rogers are engaging in traffic-shaping practises that effectively control Canadians’ access to the web. We desperately need legislation to prevent this from happening!

In the meantime, our only hope lies with the CRTC enforcing rules against anti-competitive policies. The CRTC is currently examining corporate control of the Internet through traffic-shaping practises.

Canadians can express their concerns in a message to CRTC Chair Konrad von Finckenstein.

Read Internet law expert Michael Geist’s blog entry about the case before the CRTC, the outcome of which "will provide a clear answer on whether Canadian law currently protects net neutrality or if legislative reform is needed."
