The short explanation of this alert was:

Send a message to Congress and the President:

  1. Demand that the federal government act now to fully fund the health care, housing, nutrition, employment and education needs of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. 
  2. Demand a bipartisan investigation into the failure of the government's response to this disaster. 
  3. Demand that President Bush rescind his executive order that suspends the Davis-Bacon law.  The people working hard to clean up and rebuild our Gulf coast deserve to be paid fairly.
  4. Ensure that the commmunities devastated by Katrina are rebuilt with the input of all residents.  The community should determine how redevelopment happens, not only wealthy developers.
