Stand Up for E-Z Pass Workers!

Can you imagine going to work one day and learning that your boss was changing your pay structure from an hourly wage to that of a modern day sweatshop? This is exactly what happened at the call center run by Affiliated Computer Services, providing customer support for E-Z Pass users in New York State.

Help us put an end to this piece-work scheme and rightfully ask ACS to come to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair contract by sending a letter now.

As a New Yorker, whose taxes fund a contract between E-Z Pass and Affiliated Computer Services, I am appalled to learn about how ACS is treating its workers.

The day workers at the ACS Staten Island call center voted in a union to gain more respect on the job, the company instituted "Activity Based Compensation" for their employees.  This piecemeal payment system will turn ACS into nothing but a modern-day sweatshop. Wherever ACS has instituted this kind of pay structure, workers were forced to quit because their pay dropped over 50%.  I hope you agree that it is not acceptable to condone this type of pay scheme, especially since my tax and toll dollars are paying for this.

ACS workers at the E-Z Pass Call Center provide critical customer service to users of E-Z Pass. If workers are getting paid per call, surely there will be an incentive to quickly dispose of callers. I would hope that the Thruway will not tolerate a reduction in service quality at the E-Z Pass Call Center.

I ask for you to insist that ACS uphold quality service for E-Z Pass customers, and denounce piece work in NY. Demand that ACS come to the bargaining table with their employees to negotiate a fair contract.
