The short explanation of this alert was:

New York and the United States are falling behind the rest of the world in high speed internet access.  But now New Yorkers have a chance to take the lead and build a high speed network that will benefit all of us. 

This bill will help bring high speed internet to all New Yorkers, especially those in underserved rural and lower-income areas. It would break the cable monopoly, improving service and pricing for all of us by fostering competition between cable and internet providers.
