Providing safe, quality care is the goal of every registered nurse. But, too often, we find ourselves short-staffed and caring for more patients than we consider safe. In survey after survey, nurses say there are not enough RNs on duty to provide quality patient care.

That's why I am joining with nurses from all over the United States in the fight to ensure safe, quality patient care. Our goal is to win passage of nurse-to-patient ratio laws, both nationally and in the states.

We know the corporate opponents will work overtime to stop us by spreading confusing misinformation, and that they have the money to do it. As nurses, we have to take a stand for our patients and our profession and tell citizens and political leaders the truth about the dangers of short-staffing.

This is a campaign of education, outreach and mobilization. By signing this petition, I am assuming my professional role as the patient advocate and will participate in the fight to ensure every patient has a bedside nurse who can deliver the care that she/he deserves.
