On Thursday, October 3, President Bush vetoed legislation to renew the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which would provide health care coverage for more than 10 million children.

He did so quietly because he knows denying health care to millions of children is not only deeply unpopular--it's the wrong thing to do.

The U.S. House will have the opportunity to do the right thing in the coming weeks.
