On Tuesday, September 26, the U.S. House of Representatives voted, 265-159, to renew the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). The bill reauthorizes SCHIP for the next five years and provides an additional $35 billion to help children secure health care. The House margin was about 25 votes short of what is needed to override Bush's promised veto.
