Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit North Carolina State AFL-CIO.The short explanation of this alert was: Bush's veto of legislation to renew the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) means 6.6 million children of low-income families will lose their health care when funding expires on November 16 unless the Congress acts quickly to override. An additional 4 million children from low-middle income families that would have gained coverage will continue to go without any health insurance. A vote in the US House of Representatives on overriding Bush's callous veto of children's health insurance is scheduled for October 18. You can be part of the debate in your local newspaper. We're asking members of our E-Activist network (that's you!) to compose a letter to the editor. We've provided talking points to help get you started, but remember to keep your letter to 250 words or less. |
