The short explanation of this alert was:

These state senators voted against a progressive state income tax that would increase taxes slightly on earners making more than $500,000 per year, and profitable corporations that pay almost no state tax.  Across Connecticut, public service workers have voted to increase their own taxes in the form of givebacks to their employers in order to help out all Connecticut citizens during an economic crisis. Shouldn’t we be asking the wealthy and big corporations to make a similar sacrifice?

Please contact these state senators and express your disappointment in their vote against a progressive state income tax. The wealthiest citizens who have received whopping state and federal tax breaks over the last few decades need to pay their fair share – just as public service workers have done!  Tell these senators we’re all supposed to be in this together.
