Ulster County Staff Employees Deserve a Contract

The Ulster County Staff Association is a Union that was established in May 2007 for management employees in Ulster County in response to the County untilaterally threatening to cut benefits. The Union is 44 experienced and dedicated members who have now gone without a contract for 4 years. The leadership in Ulster County has engaged in a negotiation policy of avoidance that has singled out the Staff Association. Almost all other Ulster County employees have a contract, which is both unfair and unacceptable.

Talking Points

  • The Ulster County Staff Association formed in 2007 by management employees in response to significant benefit cuts.
  • The Union is 44 members who work hard for the Ulster County government and its citizens.
  • Members work in many different public services and protect our children, our health, and our livelihood. Staff Association members do everything from maintaining our roads to ensuring vaccines are available.
  • Staff Association members have remained without a contract for 4 years while nearly every other County employee is benefiting from a union contract.
  • The Staff Association is being unfairly singled out and is excluded from receiving the wages and benefits they deserve.
  • Ulster County Executive Michael Hein refuses to bargain in good faith and will not meet with the Union.
  • Union members, including Staff Association members, supported and worked hard to elect Mike Hein to the Executive position and now he is letting us all down.
