No Deal

The Verizon-Frontier Deal does nothing more than pad the pockets of Wall Street executives and leave consumers out in the cold.

The proposed sale would transfer all of Verizon’s landline operations in 14 states to Frontier, a small Connecticut based company.

The sale would put $3.3 billion dollars into Verizon’s coffers -- tax free -- and leave Frontier buried in debt.

Similar deals have had disastrous effects for consumers and communities.  In New England, Verizon sold its landlines to FairPoint, which is now on the verge of bankruptcy.

Residents of the states that will be affected by this deal are concerned.

Will Frontier be able to service the state during emergencies?  How will Frontier be able to provide broadband service when it lacks the technology and investment to put into it?

We have the power to change the deal.  Regulators in the states affected by this deal and in Washington can block or modify it if they see it as a risk to the public or violates existing laws.

I've been keeping track of the recent developments with the proposed deal between Verizon and Frontier to transfer over Verizon's landlines to a small Connecticut company called Frontier Communications.

Will Frontier will have the capacity to restore service quickly when damaging winds knock down lines? If and when this deal goes through, how will Frontier be able to invest in broadband technology when they will become buried in debt from the deal?

This deal is a disaster waiting to happen. Please take a close look -- we can't afford to pad the pockets of Wall Street executives while leaving consumers like me behind.
