Western Union: Don't Outsource America

We're pursing every possible avenue to stop Western Union from walking away from these workers.  But we need your help.

Fill out your information below to tell the Western Union CEO Christina Gold to stop outsourcing America and keep good, union jobs in Missouri and Texas.

640 CWA members who work for Western Union in Missouri and Texas are about to lose their jobs.  Earline Jones, president of CWA Local 6377 knows why.

"It's about globalization. They say they ran the numbers, and it's cheaper for them to do business elsewhere. They're outsourcing America, and what will be left?"

Western Union's corporate executives report profits in the billions of dollars.  But they want to close their facilities in Missouri and Texas and shift the work to non-union operations.  That's bad news for Western Union's dedicated employees and bad news for customers, who rely on the world-class service currently provided by CWA members.

CWA members helped build Western Union's business.  When the company was in trouble in 1983, they helped rescue the company by taking a 10% reduction in wages and other benefits.  But now that the company is thriving, executives are ready to turn their backs on their loyal employees.  Closing these facilities will have a devastating effect on the families of Western Union workers and on the communities where these facilities are located.

Western Union has estimated that it will cost $60 million to close its facilities in Missouri and Texas -- a price executives are willing to pay to become union-free.
