Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit CWA e-Activist Center. The short explanation of this alert was:
640 CWA members who work for Western Union in Missouri and Texas are about to lose their jobs. Earline Jones, president of CWA Local 6377 knows why. "It's about globalization. They say they ran the numbers, and it's cheaper for them to do business elsewhere. They're outsourcing America, and what will be left?" Western Union's corporate executives report profits in the billions of dollars. But they want to close their facilities in Missouri and Texas and shift the work to non-union operations. That's bad news for Western Union's dedicated employees and bad news for customers, who rely on the world-class service currently provided by CWA members. Western Union has estimated that it will cost $60 million to close its facilities in Missouri and Texas -- a price executives are willing to pay to become union-free.
